Tours

School Visitors (Pate photo, 2008)

General Information: Visitors to Pine Grove will tour the 1845 Greek Revival home of former Michigan Governor Moses Wisner, related outbuildings such as the root cellar, summer kitchen, smokehouse, and privy, the grove and gardens, the 1865 Drayton Plains one room school, and the Pioneer Museum, featuring artifacts from our rural past. Tours generally last 1.5 to 2 hours and are conducted by costumed docents who are happy to share stories and answer your questions. Dress in period style or come as you are to enjoy a trip back in time! General Admission is $5 adults, $3 children 12 and under. Additional activities and pricing may apply during special events.

Group Tours by Appointment: Guided tours for children or adults are available by appointment. Consider your school group, scout troop, church fellowship gathering, senior center club, genealogical or history society, bridge partners, or lunch friends! Contact us to arrange a time.

School Tours: Teachers may contact us for information about touring Pine Grove, optional schoolhouse rental, and an available teachers guide for help in planning your visit. All buildings, grounds, and outbuildings are included in the standard tour. Optional schoolhouse rental (at $50 per half day) allows teachers extra time to teach their classes in the Victorian setting of the Drayton Plains school. Each year hundreds of children visit Pine Grove for a taste of history!

Special Events: We are also open for tours at special times during the year. Please see our Events page for special dates, pricing, and details.

Please note: While the Drayton Plains School and Carriage House (office and library) offer barrier-free access, the Wisner House and Pioneer Museum do not.
