Description

Amasa Bagley was born in 1778 in Rhode Island. The year after he was born, his father died and his mother, Silence Smith Bagley, married Caleb Carpenter. James Carpenter, buried in the same lot, is likely his half brother. Judge Bagley moved to the Michigan territory in 1817-1818, settling in Bloomfield around 1819 or 1820. He ran the Bagley Tavern for many years along with a grist and sawmill in the Bloomfield area.

Judge Bagley’s monument is separated from its base and laying next to it.
