Barrier – Free Access

While our Office, Library, and Schoolhouse offer barrier-free access, the Wisner House and Pioneer Museum require the use of stairs. The tour entrance for the house is via the side porch. The stairs there have six steps and sturdy railings on both sides. The house tour includes the second floor; there is a full staircase with one railing to the left to maneuver to get there. This part of the tour can be skipped.

The Pioneer Museum and Oakland County Genealogical Society collection is located in the basement of the Carriage House at the bottom of a full flight of stairs with a landing. There is an outside entrance to this level which requires navigating a hill.

Tours

There are a million ways you can tour Pine Grove. Let us help your group decide what they want to see.

Research Library

If you can, please call ahead when planning a visit, especially if you have a specific research topic. Or submit a research request ahead of time and we’ll go over what we find when you get here.

There is a $5 per day fee for non-members to use the library, and a $5.00 fee for non-members wishing to take reference photos (of book pages, etc.). All of which can be avoided simply by joining the society at your preferred level of participation. An individual membership is $20.00.

Location

We are located at 405 Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, one-half mile north of downtown Pontiac, just south of the Wisner School and Stadium. Our driveway access is shared with the laundromat next door – turn into the laundromat, and look for the gravel driveway to the north.
