Barrier – Free Access
While our Office, Library, and Schoolhouse offer barrier-free access, the Wisner House and Pioneer Museum require the use of stairs.
We’re happy to have you come visit!
The Carriage House (Office, Research Library and Pioneer Museum) are currently open by appointment only Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Please come visit – there’s always good company and the coffee’s usually reasonably fresh!
While the Mansion, Summer Kitchen and One Room Schoolhouse aren’t currently available for tours, don’t let that stop you from visiting our grounds – there’s still good stuff to see and do.
Tours are currently suspended until further notice.
If you can, please call ahead when planning a visit, especially if you have a specific research topic. Or submit a research request ahead of time and we’ll go over what we find when you get here.
There is a $5 per day fee for non-members to use the library, and a $5.00 fee to take reference photos (of book pages, etc). All of which can be avoided simply by joining the society for $20.00.
The Library is currently operating by appointment only, and there are social distancing and capacity limits being enforced. Please call ahead.
We are located at 405 Cesar E. Chavez Avenue (formerly known as Oakland Avenue), one-half mile north of downtown Pontiac, just south of the Wisner School and Stadium. Our driveway access is shared with the laundromat next door – turn into the laundromat, and look for the gravel driveway to the north.
