Description

Lieutenant Richard “Dick” Hunt Whitehead is the son of Almeron and Mary Whitehead.

Lieutenant Whitehead lost his life near Hanover Court at “Haw’s Shop”, Hanover, Virginia, May 28, 1864, while in action. While serving, he was promoted from private to 1st sergeant; his rank of lieutenant was awarded posthumously.
