The Wisner House: A Virtual Tour
This summer, we took a few days off from prepping the house for our America250 Celebration and had most of the rooms in the house 3D scanned. You know, because that’s…what you do with your free time. Right?
Which means you can take a tour – think of it as a Google Street view, but without the streets and inside a house. Outside too, it’s yours to explore.
Without going into the details, most of the rooms in the house were captured using a 360 degree camera. Really great technology and a great use for it.

Why we did this: The Wisner house isn’t accessible to people with mobility challenges. There are no ramps and even if there were, the stairway to the second floor is steep and has a lot of steps.
We’ve installed two touch screens – one in our carriage house and the other in the mansion’s Gaylor Forman Gallery, to allow people to see the house without going inside.

Human hair art. There, we said it. Nobody said our ancestors weren’t a little strange.
Areas we didn’t scan:
We didn’t scan the military room off the family parlor or the two small rooms off the dining room. Simply put they are too small to access with the 3D cameras.
Moses’ second floor office. Same reason, but also full of glass reflections. It’s not easy to scan.
The Gaylor Forman Gallery, aka former caretakers’ rooms. These are accessible at ground level. Also they were not ready for scanning.
