Dave Decker will present his research on milling in Oakland County from the mid-1800’s through the 1920’s, how mills affected daily life, and how “where you can put the mill” affected the founding of Oakland County’s villages and towns. His research on Dawson’s Mill in Pontiac will be highlighted.
Civil War expert and OCPHS board member Bill Grandstaff presents our next Mini-Lecture, Myths and Legends of the Civil War on Sunday June 11 at 2 p.m. Bill’s intriguing new talk looks at stories that have evolved surrounding the Civil War, shedding light on the “fake news” of the day and exposing surprising truths about that conflict’s folklore.
