The Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society (OCPHS) is planning the 9th Annual Oak Hill Cemetery walk in Pontiac on Sunday, September 15, 2024. We hope you will understand the importance of sponsoring this event to help us save and preserve Oak Hill Cemetery. Oak Hill is a Historic Cemetery with the graves of many early Oakland County settlers and civil war heroes. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
A volunteer group, Friends of Oak Hill Cemetery, has, for the last nine years, been dedicated to the continual restoration of mausoleums along with beautifying the grounds. They have also restored the original historic fence and raised money for headstones, including the memorial for the Pontiac State Hospital in section 11 of the cemetery.
The annual history walk raises a small amount each year, but it is not nearly enough to do larger projects. We need your financial help to save this vulnerable historic cemetery. We hope that we can count on you to help make a difference.
Please return the enclosed commitment form by August 18th so we can be sure to include you in the recognition materials. For further information, call Oakland History Center at 248.338.6732.
