Pioneers of Oakland County 1886-1938
From the mid-1880s through to around 1938, the Pioneer Society would on occasion call for biographies of early Oakland County settlers. These requests would typically be printed in the newspaper and often resulted in back-and-forth correspondence between the Society and people sending along information.
Some of these documents are origin stories from communities, settler biographies, genealogies, letters, even random leaflets or memorabilia.
This collection contains 4 archive boxes containing almost 600 documents. It is indexed but not digital, containing many original, handwritten documents. Use the SEARCH box to find a name or community, then contact us and we’re happy to pass along what’s there, if possible (there may be some cost associated with scanning the documents).
